  1. Thanks for watching! What did you find most interesting about NASA’s Surveyor Program?

  2. I was in high school when the Surveyor program was in full swing. At the time, it was just totally enthralling watching the missions on TV. You just cannot imagine just how fantastic these missions were when you consider the levels of technology we had at the time. If we were to build another Surveyor, but with current technology, we probably could pack everything, including the engines and fuel into something the size of a coffee table, and it would probably successfully land on the Moon.

I remember when it was announced that the Soviet Union had put Sputnik 1 into orbit around the Earth. So I grew up through the entire infancy of the unmanned and manned space programs. What an adventure it was not only for the astronauts, but also the average American citizen.

  3. Always enjoy your videos cheers 🙂 I think you're right – the fact that the Apollo astronauts could visit a place previously visited by an unmanned mission is pretty cool!

  4. I find it interesting that we were still figuring out how to land on the moon while we were far into the design phase of Apollo. The last surveyor mission was in Jan 1968, we landed humans 18 months later. Crazy, balzy mission Apollo…. we dont have the guts for that type of risk today.
